As long as you leave the loader on, you will be fine with the 2660.

I dont put too much stock in what the manual says regarding cutter weight. It is still only weighs half of the lift capacity of the tractor, and its not like you are abusing the hitch by pulling and pushing like a box blade would. The weight is really all the hitch is holding, and thats only while transporting, cause 90% of the time cutting, the weight is mosty supported by the tailwheel. Just make sure the stabilizers are tight and the cutter isnt swinging violently side to side.

I have a 1100# 6' cutter on my L3800. So the weight is a tad farther back. No issues in 2 years with it.

When it comes to bushhogs, two things. Weight, and gearbox HP. The 2660 is a nice unit for some serious clearing with that tractor.

I am the wrong one to ask about price though. I have never bought any new implements. I buy used ones off c-list for a fraction of the cost of new.

I'm having some difficulty finding prices on Rotary cutters.

I'm willing to pay more for the local dealer, but would love to be able to compare his quotes to the outside world!

JBar Farm Equipment is just across the GA line off of 75. Thier website is J Bar Farm & Industrial implements. I can't remember if they post prices.

Everything Attachments lists a lot of different cutters, with prices & shipping is free within an area if memory serves me right. Either way they are a good website to do a price check on. (Tractor Attachments And Skid Steer Attachments For Any Tractor Or Skid Steer)

Plus for both is no sales tax..

I had not heard of J Bar discussed in the upper tier of cutters, are they of that level?

I don't know if they are the same level but they are built heavy.

The tractorhouse website lists prices for many rotary mowers. Several Land Pride 1860's are listed as well as almost any other brand. Many dealers have prices "listed" on their website if you are looking for comparisons. Mast Tractor in Ohio has many prices listed for various implements. I know there are many more dealer websites with prices if you are looking for a real basic comparison. Just use them as a guide since some prices may be a special if you purchase multiple implements or something like that if the price is much cheaper than other dealers.

I didn't mention the Brown cutters because I didn't think any of their cutters were 'light duty' enough to use with your size tractor, but after remember that LD1 uses a heavy duty cutter on his tractor then maybe they would be worth a look. I do have a 6' Brown cutter and it is indeed a very nice, heavy duty, and nearly indestructible cutter that will mow over anything I can push over. I've routinely taken down 3" material with it and while it does make a racket, it doesn't leave much left of the saplings/small trees and never had anything break on it. Granted I've only owned mine for a year now but I'm overly happy with it regardless.

As a side note, I see that Brown is now building a tree saw, similar to the turbo saw.

I dont think they are even close. Medium duty at best. IMO, 650lbs for a 5-6' cutter isnt what I would call "built heavy".

Heavy enough for most needs, maybe. But top tier cutters mentioned already push 2-3x's the weight, and gearboxes with double the HP rating and more.

3/16" 8 gauge deck... That's pretty heavy built to me?

Yes that is pretty heavy duty, no doubt about it. Are the rest of the components also beefy like that?
