Hello TBN'rs,

After purchasing a Kubota BX-23 based upon the input on this board, and then obtaining additional acreage, I quickly realized that my needs have out grown the capacity of the BX-23. So now I have started the quest of selling the BX-23 and purchasing a larger tractor. At first I considered the B3030, which seems to be a really nice tractor. However after I test drove the B3030, and the L3130, the L3130 just seemed to be somewhat more stable. Additionally, the difference in the quoted price was less than a thousand dollars. I've been quoted a little over 18,000 for the L3130 with an LA513 loader. Does this seem like a reasonable price? I live in Northern Virginia. Thanks in advance for any comparison pricing you can come up with. I am interested in what this tractor/loader combination is selling for in other areas in the North/Mid-Atlantic/South Eastern parts of the US.

I apologize for the edit, but I forgot to indicate that the Tractor is a L3130HST

I ended up with a 2630 but I really like the 3130. Didnt get any pricing though it was more tractor than I needed. Have you checked at Byrd equipment? They deliver to warren county. Theres also mcmichael, and woodstock. Also just across the PA boarded is Messicks, Heard nothing but good from them. Sorry couldnt help much.

Hello all,

Thanks to those who posted a response. After further thought, I decided to go a little bigger on the engine and settled on the L3430 HST with an LA513 Loader, Quick Attach Bucket Option, and R4's.

I e-mailed four different dealers and received pricing from $18,850, High View Sales, High View, WV (Quick Response and Best Price), Messicks $18,950 for a demonstrator with 8 hours, and $20,650, from Valley Implement in Harrisonburg, VA. However, I decided to go with my local dealer in Woodstock, VA, because I like the dealer and for convenience. The total price for the tractor with the loader was $19,315. I should take delivery sometime during the first week of December. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Ray is a great guy to deal with. I have purchased a lot of equipment from him. You will enjoy your new tractor.

You will love that tractor. Just wondering why you did not get the L723 loader? Have fun. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

AB4D,

I'm sure you'll love your new tractor but you may want to reconsider getting the LA723 loader. The specs. are better all around but the one that would convince me to get it is the 40° rollback versus the 30° for the LA513. This makes a big difference when moving easy flowing material like stones or sand.

The one other thing that I got by accident and would definitely purchase in the future is the HD bucket.

Have fun with your new machine.

<Just wondering why you did not get the L723 loader? Have fun.>

I just don't think I need the capacity of the 723 and the additional cost of the 723 would have exceeded my budget for a new tractor/loader. I basically need a front end loader to move brush, general clean up of branches, yard debris and such. I mostly purchased the larger tractor to run a large brush hog because I have about 4 acres of rough pasture area to mow/maintain. I just sold my BX-23 and the LA-211 was actually about the right size for my needs, I hate to see the BX-23 go /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif. However, the BX-23 just couldn't run a good sized brush cutter. But who knows, I may end up regretting that I did not get the 723. Anyway, I will try to post some photos when the new tractor arrives.

Jim,
I have a L3130 HST with a LA723 loader that is two years old. Have 200 hours on it as we speak. Excellent power for the size. One of my better purchases. Paid about the same you have been quoted. Mine came from the dealer in Warrenton (best price around-checked all 5 local dealers). As you may have surmised, I am close to you. Have property on the Warren-Page county line.
Good luck with your purchase. Let me know if you have any questions.

AB4D,

Just curious, how much more is the LA723 loader compared to the LA513 loader?

Thanks,
Kevin

Kevin,

After your question, I called the dealer about the LA723. My Kubota dealer wants an additional $585.00 to upgrade from the LA513 to the LA723, including the quick attach bucket option. Well after getting the price, I decided that the cost wasn't all that much more for the additional 400 pounds of lift, higher capacity bucket, and further roll back. So I went ahead and ordered the LA723. Thanks for the input and suggestion.

This is much easier spending other people's money /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif.

I think you'll really like your new machine. Enjoy.

Its always fun spending other peoples money /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Sometime you dont think you would need the extra capacity but then when that one time hits thats when you wish you had /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was over drooling over a 3130 at woodstock last sat then the wife piped up and said time to go /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif Some nice eye tractor candy on that lot.

If that's not a smart tractor/FEL combination, then your in the company of many dummies. That and the QA are very good reasonably priced upgrades. Just glad the empty pockets are on those other posters. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif Good decision. Enjoy it! /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hey,
I am looking to buy a 3130 or a 3430 and got some prices today. I am looking at 20,000 for 3130 new with 523 loader. That is from the dealer in Orange, va. I also live in Nva. But my place is farther out. I wonder if you could give me contacts for the people you are dealing with. I would like to compair prices. Thanks

Jim4,

The only person I dealt with directly was Ray at Woodstock Equipment (540) 459-3233. Super nice guy and close to my home, but somehow he managed to talk me into buying an L3430HSTC /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif (took delivery today, I will post some photos when the weather will cooperate). Nevertheless, he did not have the lowest price when I got my quotes. Before I purchased the 3430, Ray quoted me $18.370.00 for an L3130HST with a 513 loader, 66" bucket, and R4's.

The general opinion on TBN seems to be that you don't pick your dealer based on price alone, you should also look at other factors, including dealing with someone you like, and are they going to be good to deal with for service issues. To do my comparison shopping I went to the Kubota web site and searched for dealers in the area, I obtained email addresses there, and then emailed the dealers directly for quotes on the tractor/loader combination I wanted. However, keep in mind that the Kubota web site is weird and for some reason it will not show you all of the dealers in the region even though you specify for the site to show you all of the dealers within a certain mile radius from your zip. So you may have search around on the site using different zip codes to compile a complete regional list of dealers. If you are only concerned with the best price, the dealer in West Virginia had the best price, so you might want to ask them for a quote.

Good luck with you shopping and welcome to TBN.

Is that a HST, GST or DT. The price seems high to me. You can see that Deen Implements in Texas is selling a L3130 with FEL for $16,420. A HST version should be less than a $1000 dollars more and a DT version less than the GST. Go to www.deenimplement.com and click on monthly specials. You can also try Carver Equipment in Dunn, NC for an e-mail quote. They are usually low priced. Go to www.carverequipment.com/Carver_main_menu.htm I'm not saying you shouldn't deal with a local dealer, only get competitive prices so you can bargain with them.

I was just pricing and actually had a deal with the dealer, on this tractor until I changed my mind and went to the 3830, Here was the deal though, L3130 HST, with 723 loader with Quick attach, 60" brush hog, first service, delivered all for 20,000.00....Hope this helps...

Kevin -

I would encourage you to get at least the 3430, not the 3130. The 3130 has the same basic engine as the 3430, with the cylinders bored to 3.3" versus the 3.4" that is found on all other Grand L's, and smaller pistons installed. This is done merely to have a 31 HP tractor in the Grand L line, which seems like a bit of a crime. Speaking of crimes, why does a 3430 cost $2,000 more, just because it has the same bore and pistons as every other Grand L? That's marketing for you I guess. The same marketing that gave us the 4630, with the same torque and displacement as the 4330, for a couple of grand more. Kinda makes me see red instead of orange. Oh well.

The 3830 might be an even better choice, as it follows a great rule of thumb about getting the most HP you can get in a given tractor line. Some gentle readers might be saying, wait a minute, the 5030 is the biggest tractor in this line. I see the Grand L's as two separate lines, the 31/34/3830, and the 43/46(p'tuie)/5030. Hence the availability of the 723 on the former, and the 853 on the latter.

I'd give the same advice on the loader as the HP. Get the biggest one that you can get on your tractor.

L3130 owners, L4630 owners, owners of Grand L's with smaller loaders: my intent is not to p*** you off, sorry if that is the result.

John D.
