Our top story tonight:

Something happened during a helicopter lift project downtown today, causing something else to fall to the ground, that was removed later by what looked like a truck.

Your story doesn't sell...:D

That said, it could have been just a good of story if the load was dropped intentionally, but that would have taken time and investigation.

As noted before, I see the same "mis information" per news articles pertaining to dogs and guns without doing any actual investigating. That said, investigating takes time and money, and who cares when it comes to the first person out with the story.

My favorite is the "breaking story with our reporter on the scene." That consists of extended footage of the outside of a building where something happened inside. The reporter spends most of the time telling us how little they know, because it's a breaking story. At the same time, they quite redundantly tell us that they will report back to us just as soon as they know something.

Unless there is blood or mayhem, you will never hear anything more; gotta move onto the next Potential Pulitzer prize.

Thanks for asking. Karen was on Hydroxychloroquine for her lupus and she was 100% after 2 weeks. Diarrhea was her worse issue, but we blame that more on having colon cancer 3 years ago then the Covid. She also lost her sense of smell and taste, but its coming back quickly.

I'm on day 20 and feeling pretty good. The last week I've gone from thinking I was done with it, to having fatigue so bad that it wore me out to just sit up and watch TV. It just comes and goes like a wave. I never lost my sense of taste or smell. Probably the worse thing for me was the muscle and joint aching. The fever never came back after the first 3 days. The only medicine that I took was Tylenol for the fever. My wife gave me some vitamins, but I don't know if they do anything or not.

I think it was last Tuesday or Wednesday that I went in to see my Doctor, and she said that I was no longer contagious. And that I was doing good and to not push myself too hard.

I plan on going back to work on Monday. I have an attic job that I had started the day I first started feeling something. I have all the framing done, so now it's just sheetrock, electrical, insulation and trim work. Carrying 3 sheets of sheetrock up there is the only physical part of the job, so I'll do one, rest, then the other, and rest and then finish with the smaller pieces from the third sheet. It should be simple enough.

Sorry that I abandoned the other thread. It was taken over by silly people making silly comments that nobody cared about except themselves.[/QUOTE]
It started after 1987, when the Fairness Doctrine ended. The Federal Communications Commission policy that required public media channels to base their stories on fact and to present both sides of a question. This started sensationalism news, 24 hour breaking news and opinionated news. It has bled into all forms of our news and has tainted the facts in all forms. From this we get advertising the news in commercials using sensationalized news of previous days, weeks and months to sell the news casts and channels. Walter Cronkite never had to sell his news cast or worry about ratings, everybody just waited and watched and listened.

Was it Walter Cronkite who started to announce the daily american deaths in Vietnam? That pissed off Nixon and his cronies.

This morning I actually heard one of the CBS news anchor girls say........."the govt vaccination rollout is an....."epic fail"

You sure don't hear that very often!

Just me, but that would be a much better prime example of how "the news gets it wrong" ....by making a subjective judgement calls on a topic(s) the anchor (in all likelihood) has zero experience and is based-upon criteria that isn't shared....

Not commenting on the vaccination rollout (mostly because I don't care), but broadcasting judgement calls with no shared criteria or explanation on the basis of *their* subjective judgement call just seems irresponsible and unprofessional ....

Reminds me of a couple anchors commenting on hydrogen fuel cell vehicles back when the second Bush was President where one made the snide comment of "I'd like to see President Bush drive across Texas in a water powered car" and the other just laughed. Apparently neither of them realized hydrogen isn't the same thing as water.......

Personally I think all of this traces back to a loss of humility and increasing numbers of fragile egos in society. As I've said to others: no single human knows everything, and if there ever was an entity that did know everything they'd likely be humble as they'd have been wrong a great many times - and if they hadn't been wrong a great many times they wouldn't know what it feels like to be wrong a great many times...which would mean there's at least one thing they don't know and haven't experienced.

Just my :2cents: ...and I've learned enough in life to realize there are times I am (or would have been) happy to be wrong (particularly when I'm being cynical/realistic in my expectations)......

I watched the story and the interview this morning while eating my breakfast. There was a factual story, followed by an interview. A discussion. People state their opinions in discussions. The "epic fail" comment was made in the discussion.

There's a difference between news stories and editorial opinion pieces. People get the facts in a news story, then discuss them in an opinion setting.

Exactly and opinions are just that.
