2016 KUBOTA B2650 w/cab & A/C
I decided to till the garden today, so I installed my tiller on the back of my tractor, pulled out of the barn, and into the garden. I backed up to the far fence, grabbed the PTO handle to slide it back to Rear PTO, and no matter what I did, the handle would not move. After straining for several minutes I got out my BFH, well actually a rubber mallet, and gave it several whacks which accomplished exactly nothing.

Then I pulled it back in the barn, removed the tiller, and crawled underneath to see what if anything I could accomplish from that side. As it turns out, absolutely nothing.

I'll contact the dealer in the morning, but in the meantime has anyone else experienced such a disappointment?

No, it was still stuck in the mid PTO position. Up until today I haven't had the need to move the lever. That's something I should have done.

Joe

PS. I should add that I only have 48 hours on the tractor.

If mine gets stuck like that I kinda engage the pto while leaning on it. I figured the gear teeth were not lining up.

Gear meshing is tricky sometimes when the teeth don’t line up on any tractor. I usually move the tractor, range, whatever to get things to move into better position. I would not force anything.

If you don't use the controls, they will get sticky due to accumulation of dirt on the linkages. Particularly an issue with tractors that have mowing decks/3 pt mowers and equipment that sits out or is exposed to the weather. Cycle the controls once in a while, keep the linkages as clean as possible, store indoors if you can, and lube the linkages with some kind of spray lube (WD40, etc.). Lube and gentle working of a stuck control (patience!), works better than beating on it.

UPDATE - This morning while shaving it dawned on me that I used to have a similar problem with my old B2910. I would have to ease the clutch out, move the tractor, fiddle fart around until the gears meshed, then the PTO would engage smooth as silk. It's amazing how fast you forget the old tricks when you have a brand new tractor.

So anyway I just went out to the barn, pulled the tractor outside, with the mid PTO selected, I eased the clutch in, disengaged the clutch, and like magic, the selector lever smoothly slid into the rear PTO position. The bottom line is, there is nothing to see here, please move along. :D:cool2:

Gettin old ain't fer woosies!

I must have gotten a defective 2650, I can't find the clutch?

To the left of the seat there are 3 levers. The orange one is the selector for the ranges N L M H. Inside of that lever are 2 yellow levers. The rear one selects the mid or rear PTO, or both. The lever in front of that one is the clutch lever. Push it forward and it engages the clutch.

Any other misconceptions I can clear up for you?
