There are other issues when changing the tires around and going from 72" to 78". This may not be an issue for you. Many rear attachments for a tractor of your size are in the 6' wide category. Setting the tires wider than the rear attachment is usually not desireable. For example, 6' bush hog or box blade does not operate as well with the tires wider than the attachment.
If you need the clearance for the tire chains, then switching tires maybe your best choice.
