The system is broken. The criminals get a slap on the hand even with multiple law breaking instances but it seems if a normal citizen somehow got mixed up in something accidentally that they would be screwed.

The system is broken. ...
It may not be totally broken, but it sure needs a lot of help to do a better job. A lack if citizen involvement is a big part of the reason the system is in bad shape.
So, what have you done recently to help fix the system? Have you been involved is local government to promote the improvement of the criminal justice system?
And Zimmerman is getting crushed for his involvement. Any doubt his troubles are going to make a lot of people decide not to get involved? Folks will just hole up in their homes with firearms to protect themselves. Bugger to everyone else.
Not at the moment, teaching my kids to do right (they are the future) and making ends meet has to come first. My work does not easily allow for this. We'll see in a couple years. I do promote the prez candidate that I think would help the most but local government stuff is happening while I'm working. My oldest just got his criminal justice degree, if there's enough kids like him then the future will be looking up.Have you been involved in local government to promote the improvement of the criminal justice system?
...How about you?
My involvement waxes and wanes. I get frustrated with the politicians that are willing to buy fancy toys, build buildings, and cater to the contractors and developers, but not one cent for upgrading police and fire training and salaries. If you have a small-town mentality/pay grade, you are gonna get small-town cops.
Hang in there with the young'ns. Thats the best investment you con make at present.
