Arrived safely in Lubbock. I am hanging here until my youngest can move into her apartment. Sounds like a week or so. I am officially unemployed and homeless. Where do I sign up for the free stuff?

Any ideas of things to do here? She's going to be busy with her friends and such. I am just her mule/handyman for the next week. :)
You're welcome... :ROFLMAO:

You might as well get acquainted with the Caprock Cafe. Good food and music.

Sounds like my kind of place. Not 100% sure, we may have gone there last year. Our trips through here are usually just one night or so. We ate someplace here one time that had the best fried mozzarella I've ever had, but I don't remember where :(

If you’ve been there before you will recognize it. It’s pretty popular.

We have flooring, such as it is. We decided to do stained concrete as it was less expensive and we can change our mind later if we don't like it (without having to remove anything). We will likely use area rugs in some places as we have whenever we have had non-carpeted floors. They still are adding another layer of clear top coat.

The other thing the realtor/flippers are doing is painting the exterior of brick homes. It used to be that people painted brick homes when they added on and couldn't get the brick to match. So it was a negative selling point. Now they paint them just because they think they will sell for more money, but they are turning no-maintenance brick into something that will need repainting in 10-12 years. Or the next owner won't like the color.

But they'll leave the 15-20 year old roof........
Painted brick is a total turn off for me. And I love stained wood, painting over it would be a no go also. But then I don't see myself buying another house that I didn't build.

The local Farm Bureau had a nice brick building. Even they painted their brick white recently.

The neighbors had a nice red brick house built in the 1960s. After the mom died recently, the heirs had it painted gray to sell it. Whoever did the paint either didn't mix it properly or got a different batch while doing one of the walls because the gray on that one side doesn't even match itself. Or they might not have pressured washed all of the dirt off before painting it.
