I have been following this and have just re-read it and only see one individual who is "calling out" anyone individually, and it is not Eddie, whom makes a blanket statement. I wonder if this is a habitual thing or just a one-time slip.

Let's try a different context, which should highlight the issue better:

In your opinion, mass murder is more acceptable than individual murder?
Or, so long as you hate an entire race of people you are not racist, but if you hate a single person for their race, you are racist?

Last I knew, attacking a group of people is the same as attacking all of the individual members of the group, just at a much faster rate. Call me confused, but I had always thought doing bad things was unacceptable no matter the number of targets. Maybe in your world pointing out unacceptable behavior is frowned upon, but in mine that is the only method of stopping it. I am quite sure your world shares the same prison system, so I'm guessing the same rules apply. Though you must be against any kind of penalty system, seeing as that would be "calling out" someone.

As for your post, being less specific doesn't make your statement more acceptable, it simply makes it less useful. If this post was not aimed at me, you should consider being specific next time instead of backhandedly inferring. I wonder if this is a habitual thing or just a one-time slip.

I'd prefer I stay that way, though it seems you can't resist a peanut gallery comment with zero evidence, which is flat out wrong to begin with.. let's begin:

Is that why you need building permits, inspections and zoning allowances? You would be worth some effort if you weren't too lazy to learn even a minute bit of information before you spout off. Apparently you are good at building mental fences as well.

It is and never was my intention to attempt to dictate or suggest what any individual can or should do in regards to their own private property. I also believe that the Majority of members that have replied to this thread aren't or weren't advocating or suggesting similar prevention. I wish to post some statements: (1) Project no more looking at my GHETTO neighbors, (2) live in a Camper Trailer, (3) 700 square foot house made from Straw bales, (4) Cause it's GREEN or some s***, (5) 60 year old WOMAN walks around in a BIKINI all the time, (6) short version, we don't like them. Ghetto - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I don't know the OP personally. I believe that some members reacted to the evident disdain that the OP holds towards his Neighbors. It does seem apparent that the OP holds himself in a higher class of standards. Material things or living in a more expensive house doesn't make a person any better than anyone else. There are countless people in this World that live and exist with bare essentials and substandard housing conditions. Are we to regard these people as mediocre because of these conditions that they live? I, for one, don't think that any of us are any better than the other. Billionaires, Millionaires, Middle Class, Poor; etc all have the same basic needs - Food, Water, Shelter. The main reason that I posted this was to, perhaps - just perhaps - to give credence to the fact that no one is better than anyone else. The material goods that an individual possesses doesn't make one better or a member of Aristocracy. I have my own thoughts about the credibility of the OP's thought process and they are only be valid to me. What I will point out is that taking shots at someone by name, whether you use sentence by sentence breakdowns to validate your thoughts or to attempt to get a rubuttal from them is not my way. I do not believe you have done so, and you still have gotten your point across.

Finally, as a general thought directed at no one specifically, I spent many years in the Military having it ingrained in my thought process that I should defend your right to have your say - I did not go to the lectures that said I was required to agree with you or be called out. That is a habitual thing...

Holy crap guys, all i did was build a fence for some privacy. Some people read what to much into stuff and take things way way to far.

If really wanted to build the great wall i would have gotten a permit and gone to 8 feet.

Relax, drink a beer or smoke a bowl. There are better things to do then argue about my fence, i just wanted to share what i build and vent about them. And i didnt base my thoughts on them being ghetto until i got to know them i have lots of poor friends that i dont consider ghetto. Ghetto to me is more than just money and things, its the entire package. Personaility, the way they carry themsleves, how they talk and of course they way they live doesnt help either etc etc

And its never crossed my mind to post pics of there house and land. why would i do that

Many of us seek privacy whether it be by building a fence or building where no neighbors will ever be an issue; some thrive through interaction with their neighbors. I don't know why anyone would get excited about how someone else prefers to live their life.

Nice fence if I was faced with neighbors who did this I would have done the same thing. We fenced in part of our property for our dogs, not to just keep our dogs in our yard but to keep the neighbors out of our yard.
As far as using the word "getto" we use it as slang meaning run down. Ie my kitchen looks getto I need to update it, or when I tell my wife "its july can you please make an apt to get your snow tires off because the stack of tires next to the drive way is making the house look getto"(told her this yesterday).
I looked at straw bale for a solar green house but saw a lot of mold issues and if not sealed right rot issues. I also looked at cordwood for making a sauna, alternative building techniques have their pluses and minus just like everything else.
Privacy wise its his land and if putting in this fence helps the op find peace with the neighbors, and makes his life easier with his animals then good for him.

I see a bunch of people who question why he would put forth such an effort instead of taking a different route. There are many ways to deal with the situation he is facing, why are you name calling those who bring up different approaches "whiny soap box cry babies"? Do you see your personal attack post as one of the positive, non-sad, approaches you "respect and admire"?



Who are you to say it doesn't affect anyone else? I see a big wall of a fence to be an eye-sore which blocks the beauty of nature. Sure, he has the ability (not the right, as rights cannot be taken away, and there are plenty of places you cannot build a fence like that). People have the ability to be jerks, calling people "whiny soap box cry babies", but the simple ability to do something hardly makes it the best approach to solve a problem.



You mean the people who have spoken up for those neighbors who aren't here to speak for themselves? I know if my neighbor pulled this stunt I'd be very unhappy, just as my neighbor would be unhappy with me if I did it to him. And before you begin to think I'm taking this personally, reread my post, as I didn't give one bit of advice. I stated my experience with fencing, hoping to pass on some knowledge so others wouldn't have to go through the same expensive lesson I did. You are the "soapbox whiner" in this discussion.

All they did say.. That hardly means that is the only positive to a straw house. If you don't like them (but you do like them.. but don't..?) then don't build one. Easy concept, huh? No busy body soapbox whining needed.
