For those interested, here are the final pictures of the completed weekend projects (hitch and tool box). I also added one more quick project. After cleaning the area with a sander, I then sprayed PPG DP-90 etching epoxy primer. After that, I sprayed Kubota Orange from a rattle can. Here is the 2" receiver from the outside view of the box blade;
Next is from the inside of the box;
Next is the toolbox painted and ready for chains and such;
Since I mixed up more primer than I needed, and I hate to waste expensive primer, I did one more project I've been needing for awhile. I followed the entire Chalky Cup series, but my little tractor has no flat spots for a magnetic cup. I took a different route. The FEL upright sort of stood out as a likely mounting point to me and that big bolt was just the ticket;
I cut off a 5" chunk of 3 1/2" pipe, welded in a bottom, then welded on a short piece of 1 1/2" square tube with a 9/16" slot on one side.
The slot slides down over the loosened FEL bolt, then the bolt is re-tightened.
Finally, here it is with a big bottle of water in place;
This addition hasn't gotten the rattle can treatment yet, but will soon. For those of you really observant, You'll have already picked up on my screwup. Yep, I welded the slotted square tube on upside down! Oh well, it works anyway.
So that finishes last weekends tractor projects. Someday I'll get motivated to do some more, but not anytime soon. My next one will be to mount a pointed crowbar near the rear of the tractor for aligning 3pt implements. I've lost two already by storing them in the hole on the PTO shield. I also have an idea for a dual purpose hitch insert. Then there are those guage wheels.....
I hope this series has been of interest to at least some of you.
