I picked up the mail last evening & among the usual assortment of bills was my propane bill. They topped off my tank with 39.8 gallons and the bill was $636.80. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif THAT'S 16 BUCKS PER GALLON!!! I haven't followed propane prices to closely, but I think they are off by a decimal place. A buck sixty should sound about right? Unfortunately it was Saturday evening, so I couldn't call them. I'll have to wait until first thing tomorrow morning, and I mean first thing. Don't you just love little suprises like this?

I paid $2.019 per gallon with last months top-up. I hope it doesn't go any higher. Gerard

We got our price guarantee (lock-in) the other day for $1.89. Maybe they just want to collect a little in advance?

Did they stick you with an annual tank rental?

Just had my tank refilled last week for $1.45 @ gallon. That's in west central Ohio and Blue Flame brand.

Just filled up a new 1000 gallon tank a couple of weeks ago at $1.69 per gallon on Cape Cod.

Just got a fill-up here, and it's running $1.69. That's pretty much the average for the NC triad region right now. Last Winter, it was running $0.25-0.35 less.

Well, I gave them a call. The lady said that $16.00 per gallon wasn't that unusual. That's the number the computer defaults to when there is a glitch. I guess they are better to error on the high side, so that people will bring it to their attention. Anyway, I asked how much was my new total. She couldn't me. So I asked what was the current rate for propane. She couldn't tell me that either. She said everyone pays a different price. I'm starting to think I'm dealing with an insurance agent here. Anyway, I will get my new bill in a week and then I'll find out what propane will cost me. I can't wait. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Filled both my propane tanks on the 8th of Sept. Cost was $1.049 plus 2% tax.

We are putting in a new 500 gal tank next week at $1.15 per gal. Two months ago it was .95 but we weren't ready to tackle the propane project just yet. Guess I should feel lucky considering some of the prices posted in other parts of the country.

Dave, With those kid of non-answers I'd be looking at a new propane supplier.

Let me see, your in the propane business and you say 16.00 dollars is not that unusual? Your right, it is outrageous.

Hopefully there won't be a price increase while they prepare your new bill.

Riptides the Propane compnay while filling my parents tank I had them tank up my F700 Propane truck. Well when i got my bill the lady inthe office pu me down for tank rental dues. I told her I dont rent a tank and she argued like an idiot about it. Later she said we only rent tanks for the last ten years. I then asked her to step outside and look at the 50 gallon pressuretank on the side of my truck along with my title to it. Of course she wanted to see where it had been pressure tested by her people and such. I had to show here my road tax stickers and all that to. I think I may find another suppler here.

So if her people hadn't tested the tank, or you hadn't paid taxes etc. was she going to take the propane back?

I would have said, "The hell with that, do you want my money or not?" and not shown her a thing.

Was talking about this with one of my brothers last night. He buys his from Suburban and one of the others and I use aeroenergy . He got his "lock-in" notice at $2.15 per gallon. He stopped by the office to tell them never mind, I'm switching suppliers. The reply given was that they would sell him his propane for $1.90 a gallon and waive his tank rental fee /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif. So apparently, the run around you got is very normal in this particular trade.

I have Agway which was just bought out by Suburban /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif. Agway has a list that they go by that tells them what rate to charge you. This is calculated on your annual usage.

I.E., 0-200 gallons is X amount $'s, 201-400 gallons and so on.
The more you use, the cheaper the rate.
The difference can be significant. Gerard
