Propane Tank, rent or buy 500gal

For reference purposes, I've been quoted for a new above ground tank from the dealer: $2525. Seems a bit steep, but I've not been following the LP or steel prices.

What size tank?

A few years ago we (employer) sold about 150 used 1,000 tanks for $800 each. They came from our contracTed chicken farms that had gradually switched to NG as it had became available. The rule of thumb then was $1 per gallon capacity for a tank. Was told they were to be used in gas fracking or something similar up north.

Sorry. It was a 500 gallon, new, above ground, I would go to the dealer to pick it up and the quote was this week. (April 27, 2022 @ 8:46 am)

Even a refurbished or used tank within a days drive of Texas would be of interest, I'm just not finding much in the way of 500 gallon tanks of any type.

Local place quoted $4750 for 500 gallon tank installed. 100 miles away said 2700 just for the tank but wont have one till august. If I want 2650 I drive to Pennsylvania. About 4.5 hours each way.

I'm in Fredericksburg, WoodChuck. I had a place here quote me about $3900 for the tank (500 gallon). I currently have an inground tank. They said it would be about $5100 for the complete install.

Wow, prices have really jumped. About 5 years ago I cancelled my rental contract with the 500 gallon tank because the company was porking me on fill costs vs owning my own tank. From a different company, I bought a brand new 1,000 gal tank which they installed for $2300.

That's awesome. Was all of that above ground or in-ground?
