propane torch set up

Can someone tell how this is as far as cutting?. I needed a torch set up so I called Missippi welder supply and for 200. I can own my own tank of oxygen it will be 3 foot tall then I could hook up a a small tank of propane to cut and gas weld on some of my mods. I do to my traps.

You will NOT be able to weld with propane.

Well, I'm no welder and don't play one on TV but I've been brazing or welding or whatever you want to call it using propane and oxy for over 30 years in my home shop. Don't use it often as I now have mig and tig and plasma but have had no problem repairing an old muffler or patching something up. Used existing welding tips. As far as cutting goes, no problem. Had to use a tip designed for propane but that's the only change I had to do to switch to propane. More experienced users may have other and better suggestions. Probably numerous discussions about this topic on Google.

I think propane makes some really nice cuts. Just takes longer to preheat before starting the cut is all.

Propane doesn't produce CO2 as a shielding gas the way acetylene does. Oxygen therefore contaminates welds and that makes for brittle weak welds. Propane cuts great. Brazes well too but doesn't weld.

If I remember correctly while back there was an acetylene shortage and if you are doing a lot of heating with a rose bud, acetylene can get expensive. Propane has its advantages, I have not converted over yet. Next shortage!
