Proper Tractor Attire

Long johns or sweat pants under my bibs, old 3/4 length parka, lined work gloves, wool tuque, Sorel Kauffman boots, and - if it's windy and I'm blowing snow - a balaclava (or as they're called around here, a "cagoulle" or "passe-montagne.")

I wear whatever clothing has the most paint spots and holes. You know, the stuff the Salvation Army won't take. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif Ear protection & sun screen are also musts.

I have been clearing brush and up to 6" trees from a lot. Lot of briars, grape vine,and posion ivy. I have been chipping the stuff. Today was not a good day. I had the chipper plug and bent the stiff leg on the chipper. Then chipper wouldn't start. The worse was when I pulled the hearing protectors off and one of my hearing aids must have come out. Couldn't find it. So I am not doing so good. It has been pretty tough as I had a 4 way heart bypass not quite a year ago. I seem to only be able to work about 3 or 4 hrs at a time. I checked my insurance and I have coverage. Saves me a couple K. I wear over the ankle shoes, long sleeves, long pants, hearing protection, and leather gloves.

i always wear what is approiate for the job and the conditions of the weather. some times it may be shorts andsneakers if just cutting grass, and sometimes jeans and work boots if working in the woods and then again the job might requie some heavier clothing, see attachment/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Mine consist of what my wife calls "tractor clothes" they are old shorts or jeans, tee shirts, and sweat shirts. These are the ones already stained with tractor grease. I am forbidded from using any other clothing, I think what really set off the whole matter was remants of tractor grease that got of the washing machine basin and then finding itself on many other family clothing/w3tcompact/icons/eyes.gif So now its simple "tractor clothes"

Ya know, Jeff, having "tractor clothes" isn't all that bad. Look at this way. You never have to worry about making sure anything matches! /w3tcompact/icons/cool.gif How many times have you come walking out in your "tractor clothes" and your wife said, "You're wearing THAT"?

The hardest part of having those kinds of clothes is when you finally have to admit that the shirt (or pair of pants, or shoes) have finally worn out and you have to pitch them. I hate that! It's like throwing out an old friend! /w3tcompact/icons/frown.gif
