If you go with the Ubiquity equipment, check the voltage before buying a POE switch, the ones I have used are 24V POE vs the "standard" 48V POE. It comes with its own POE injectors though.
Do you have line of sight to the barn (or close to it?)

OK ... sounds like a great product. I'll have to pick out a good POE switch and figure out the right solar setup to get everything going.

Another question :) I will have one unit at my gate and another at my house. That leaves the barn which is about the same distance away from the house but on the far side of my property. Can I aim the 2 remote sites at the same house receiver?

First off, don't waste your money on a POE switch. The units come with power injectors and they will supply the correct amperage to the radios. Same goes for cameras which my preference is to stay clear of web cams and get an actual, 1080p outdoor, IP security camera which will also have its's own power injector. You can run multiple "stations" off of one "Access Point." Quotes placed to emphasize the terminology used when programming the Ubiquities. One needs to be the AP and the other the Station or they won't link. You'll have to read the data sheet to see the maximum number of stations that one Nano M can support, but I know its more than two. On the house end I'm thinking you may already have a router or switch with vacant ports. Just plug into one of those. If your router gives out IP addresses set the Ubiquities in Bridge Mode or the AP will be serving IP's as well. If need be get a data geek to walk you through it.

I guess with the injectors, I can use a standard switch an just supply power directly to the injectors.

From house to gate, there is an elevation drop that will result in penetrating about 100' of trees - 2400'
From house to barn, there is a lesser elevation drop but very few trees - 2300'
From barn to gate, making all of this a triangle across 100 acres, it is level with minimal trees - 1000'

Correct, I'll have the router.

I should download the manual and quit grilling you :) Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut ..... this raises another question - lol.

Can the unit at the house connect to my router via wireless? I would prefer to leave it outside and not punch a hole in the house for the wire connection.

In that case, you may want to get four units and go from the house to the barn and then barn to gate. The plus side is you'll also have service in the barn for cameras or just using your smart phone off you own wi fi. You will want a smart phone to install the camera viewing app so you can monitor things when you're not in the house. I done a few of those (including here) for horse breeders. We have 13 cameras in the stalls that can be monitored from anywhere there is cell service.

No on that one and you'll need a Cat 5e cable any way for the POE to the unit.

So, I take it that POE is the only power source then. It doesn't have both the POE and a standard power brick option.

Yes, since both the barn and gate are not visible from the house, I'll be using several cams.

Well, the power supply is a brick style but not weatherproof and there is no plug for it on the radio. Just an ethernet, RJ45 female. It isn't that bad. Set up your links in the house and get them communicating then move them to their final locations.

I really appreciate the expertise.

These sound like just the ticket.

Before you put the plastic down you might want to look at the Ubiquiti ROCKETM900. It reads like it's more powerful.

Also what are the angles involved? A quick sketch or pic would help.

And from reading reviews their manuals are not worth BS. But they do have a good website.
/edit - make that a decent website
