I just completed the 2nd leg of a similar project with Ubiquity Gear. I'm a network engineer and have used some very expensive devices to make the same type of connection, but none are nearly as easy to use or as bulletproof as the nanostation and outdoor ap's. The nanostations on the first link went from the farmhouse to the shed, I needed to avoid the trees because they will interfere with a point to point link. Here is a link to my setup and results: http://www.nerdosaur.com/wireless/ubiquity-nanostation-loco-m5-installationIn that case, you may want to get four units and go from the house to the barn and then barn to gate. The plus side is you'll also have service in the barn for cameras or just using your smart phone off you own wi fi. You will want a smart phone to install the camera viewing app so you can monitor things when you're not in the house. I done a few of those (including here) for horse breeders. We have 13 cameras in the stalls that can be monitored from anywhere there is cell service.
