Of course. Sometimes I like to think of all the memories we're making with her that someday she'll look back on her childhood and smile. :)

... and God willing, someday she'll bring my grandbabies over to play on the same trail she did.

And that, my friends, is what life is all about!

Ask and ye shall receive! After having such a good time with that brick I looked on Kijiji, and low and behold found someone wanting to get rid of some. At first he wanted $50 because he'd have to rent a trailer to move them... but he wanted to get rid of them a half day before we agreed... as I was away.... no charge!

Last week I tried to get up this hill with a load of gravel in tow... but is was just too steep, and I didn't have a good enough run on... ended up bound up and not able to back up either... so dumped the load kind of off to the side as I knew I had some filler to put in first

I kept these two pieces of clay liner intact... let's take bets on if they'll stay together or collapse!

I ended up moving 10 loads of brick today! Most I've ever done in a day. It was ideal conditions though; overcast and windy. No bugs, and barely sweat. :)

I meant to take some pics, but momma called to ask if I was going to Princess' last swimming class, in 45min! Scrambled to finish, change, and make it in time. Phone's dead now... so I'll take some tomorrow. Made a big difference in several spots. :) :) :)

Didn't follow that completely...

Did you mean he needed to rent a trailer to deliver them to you so he wanted $50 to cover his rental expense, but since he was in a hurry to get rid of them he did it for free?
OR
He wanted $50 for them, but gave them to you for free since he would have had to rent a trailer to get rid of them himself? But you had to pick them up yourself?

Too bad you didn't have a few more pieces of the clay liner. Might have been able to piece together a low volume culvert to help cross-trail drainage at some low, boggy spot. Nice work on the trail though. With terrain like that I am guessing you are somewhere on the shore south from Halifax? Could also be the Eastern Shore though. Lotsa granite and softwood in this province. :)

LOL, yeah the 1st one. However, he decided to throw a pile of nails in there that I've got to sift out... so any guilt I may have had about the $50 is long gone.

I'm in Grand Lake... no not on the lake... or near Sydney. LOL

Here are some pics from yesterdays' progress;

I also filled in one big section... but forgot to take a pic. I'll go take one this afternoon if I can remember. LOL

Started today by cutting out some vegitation from the left side of the gravel pile.

Then dug out a row with the pick axe. I've found this to be the easiest way to shovel...

One load

Two loads

Three

...and then the horse flies just went freakin' nuts! Hense, why I'm here on the computer instead of outside shoveling my 4th and 5th loads of the day. LOL Gonna go take that pic, mow the lawn, and maybe do some welding in the garage. Not a wasted day. LOL

You, my friend, are one hard working son of a gun!

lol, didn't mean you should feel guilty. He'd of had to pay a fee to take them to the dump on top of the fee to rent the trailer, so he is still better off giving them to you.

Nice work on the trail. I am sure you and the little princess will slay many dragons on that trail in the years to come. ;)

Thanks guys!

As promised;

Doesn't look like much, but I think it was 3 trailer loads and made a world of difference on the tippy factor!... still not level, but well on the way.

Looking good! It looks like you are using those logs for fill in that hole. Over enough time, they'll rot down. Are you thinking you'll just add additional fill whenever that's needed?

You got it. This project is so massive, that I've pretty much decided that although it's not ideal, using logs as filler is a huge time & effort saver. Just like my yard that's got about 60 tandem loads of free grubbins (stumps) under it, I'd rather get it done and probably have to top coat it later (decade(s)), then wait several more years... LOL I am patient, but there's a limit.
