pros and cons of rural living

Bird,

I can relate to that! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif Only difference is, if instead of spreading me on my own tee like I said I was going to do, I wouldn't necessarily do it on the closest course. I'd have them spread my ashes on the hole where I got a hole-in-one!/w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I have to disagree with you mosey about more garbage in the country. I have worked around the city for almost thirty years and those people would be walking on three foot deep garbage heaps if they didn't pay to have it cleaned up constantly. I see the scum walk down the sidewalk or street and heave whatever they want to dispose of wherever they please. They regularly throw bottles at our vehicles if the chance arises. Yes, we do get a few inconsiderate bicycle riders, walkers or scum that toss bottles or fast food wrappers into our yard, but not many. I have done the same thing as you, happened to be walking to my mailbox one day when a truckload of punks were in the process of smashing it. By the time I was able to get to my vehicle they were too far ahead of me and I lost them in the chase. I identified a bumper sticker on the old S-10 and was able to spot it some days later in a parking lot. The rest of the story will remain untold, but it's kind of the mountain way, if you saw the movie.

I like and echo Bob Pence's comment that there are inconveniences to rural living. Having grown up in country, then moved to city, it took longer than I wanted to get back to the country. Final decision maker for me to move from Indy to country was a gun fight at city park across the street from my house.

Took a little while to educate my family that planning ahead for when you are shopping/going someplace would turn a con into an inconvenience at most.

For me, not a lot of cons from living out here.

Stray dogs or neighbors that let their's run loose

Dust from the gravel road.

4 of 7 roads to place under water when rains are heavy.

Pros: Much easier.....everything else. Case in point: 3 Tom Turkey's strutting in my yard this morning!

Indiana Paul
Lets see: Do I still get trash along my gravel road? Yes, but not to the extent of in city.

How true it is about pizza delivery. By the time it arrives it will be ice cold. So much for delivery in 30 minutes or less.

I guess I'm kind of lucky about the pizza. There is a little pizza place 2 miles from my house, while they don't deliver, you can call in your order, and its only a 5 min drive.

We've go a local tavern that makes pizzas "to die for" about 3 miles from us. Best pizza I've ever eaten. Liberal with the cheese, pepperoni and sausage. I'd better stop, I'm starting to drool all over the desk./w3tcompact/icons/tongue.gif
