Pros and Cons to owning a Heavier Tractor??

The JDs have an aluminum axel housing. I think they are usually lighter than the Kubota.

"Usually"... that's why I asked for the specific models in the comparison. in the early 2000s hp for hp, most JD CUT models were heavier for hp compared to the competitive Kubota model.

I would not infer that Kioti tractors could out push equivalent hp tractors from other brands even though I believe this statement to be more true for Kioti than it is for Kubota's and probably most true for Mahindra - with exceptions expected throughout the model range.

So I think it's a bit misleading for someone to infer that Kubota's generally out push other same hp tractors.

Does your JD have the dual acting hydraulics on the FEL as mentioned on the previous page?

And, 3 range hydro.? Thanks for the information on this model.

Very happy with my 3520 with R4 tires. 2005 model year with 700 hours on it. Very reliable, no issues.

Weight is your friend in tractors in most cases, depending on how you use the tractor. You may even need to add weights to the front for ballasting rear implements.

Enjoy!

I think you will like the 3520 as a step up in size. The ehydro transmission has been a great transmission for me the last 10 years. At 2900 lbs. for the open station a lot of members use these to mow their lawns. I prefer the x7xx series for mowing but agree with others that you can use the 3520 with turf or R4 tires when the ground is dry.

I did not read all of these posts--shame on me-- because the right answer is to own both tractors. Owning only one sounds like a great idea because you're young and broke but you'll regret selling the other forever. In fact, you should own a third as well but that's another story.

If you own one and sell the other, a year from now you won't know where the $$ went. Own two and it's out in the barn.

Look at it as a "forced savings" and tell the wife you're only thinking of her. Worked for me.

Yep, I concur. If you have the where with all, two are better than one. We have a 96 hp New Holland and a 46 hp LS. We had a Kubota B2710 with 72" mid mount mower, FEL, 60" Bush Hog cutter, and 60" Bush Hog box blade, before we bought the LS. The Kubota was great for mowing but, too small for any meaningful dirt work.

The Kubota had turf tires and was really great for mowing. The only time I ever damaged the grass was if I had tractor in 4WD and front tires made marks.

I can mow the open areas of our 9 acre "yard" with the LS XR4046HC with R4's and 84" rear finish mower when it's dry and do no damage.

Great forum, thanks.

Second tractor sounds like a great idea...looks like I'll be sleeping on the deck-again! Think I'd be used to it by now.

For the past several weeks I am no longer receiving email alerts when someone posts a reply to any of the threads I am following.
Tried emailing TBN this morning and get an error page?
Anyone having the same issue or know of a fix?

That is a good plan. Too bad it usually doesn't work..

It has worked every time for me. I know when I am at the point of no return and don't dig in up to the axles. Then just pull it out with another tractor.

That is a Feature, not a bug. :D

Hate those emails. There is an option to turn the alerts off but it only applies to new threads you subscribe to after that point as I recall.
