Pros and Cons to owning a Heavier Tractor??

Great forum, thanks.

Second tractor sounds like a great idea...looks like I'll be sleeping on the deck-again! Think I'd be used to it by now.

For the past several weeks I am no longer receiving email alerts when someone posts a reply to any of the threads I am following.
Tried emailing TBN this morning and get an error page?
Anyone having the same issue or know of a fix?
Same here, that and double post's is getting annoying.

Does anyone have an idea as to the present value of this 2007 JD 3520 with approx. 100 hours?
It has R4's, rear hydraulics, and in very good physical condition.

Does your JD have the dual acting hydraulics on the FEL as mentioned on the previous page?

And, 3 range hydro.? Thanks for the information on this model.

Yes and yes.

That's funny. All the Kubota's I've had experience with were lighter than comparable same hp tractors and because of the lighter weight would not push or pull as much. What specific models were being compared? Were they ballasted the same?

The two I have experience with. Mine - B7510 gear with FEL 4WD no ballast at time. Neighbor - 2520 or 2720 escapes me at the moment. 30 hp 4wd HST 2 range. FEL and 60 inch deck mower installed. JD would bog down and not move the material or spin out. Kubota did both. Both tractors had R4' mounted.

I had not direct comparison to the B3200. The farmer was astonished that the B3200 would push shrubs, roots and grass down to bare ground based on his own experience with larger tractors.

It has worked every time for me. I know when I am at the point of no return and don't dig in up to the axles. Then just pull it out with another tractor.
I don't dig in either. It almost always instantly sinks up.

Can't compare gear to HST. Gear wins every time! :D

It is surprising that the much lighter B7510 could out push the 50% heavier JD. Makes sense it if was a poorly designed HST transmission that couldn't put all the power down. I'm guessing that if he was spinning sometimes and bogging other times the difference was if he was adding weight or removing it from the tires with the FEL. Still, he couldn't put all the power down when pressuring the tires with the FEL and that is just poor design. I've heard of several HSTs having that problem years back. You don't tend to hear about it anymore (a assume they figured it out and fixed it)

I had a similar tractor to the B7510. It was a Kioti LB1914. 19 to 21 hp depending where you look. Would run out of engine in 4th gear. Would spin all 4 tires in 3rd gear ballasted to 3800 pounds (2100 pound bare tractor).
