Dave: I'll be interested to hear how it works. If well, it should avoid some mess.
An old friend once pumped the oil from his boat's Atomic Four with a 12 volt pump in a JC Whitney oil change kit. He poured in new oil and started 'er up, turning just in time to see the last of the plastic tube that he'd forgotten disappear down the dipstick tube. He ran it a couple of years, apparently none the worse for its extra polyethylene lubrication.

Ah, a time warp. How'd they do that? Looks like we have the last of a long proven design here. I sure hope it turns out better than my last edition Ford 300 six did.

I like knowing that. I haven't heard of it in tractors, but in airplanes and boats I know of instances where a new and improved line of engines turned into an inconvenient mess for a lot of eager buyers - not to mention a warranty disaster for the manufacturer. I'll be happy to hear someone else's experiences with the new 2xxx. I hope the engine's as good as ours.

Or different engines... my fuel filter I see is a good 6 inches below the bottom of the tank and I presume fuel would flow if I remove it.

My engine is a F3L 1011F s/n 0562077, the book's title is "Operation Manual, FL 1011" uh oh - 1st edition 04/1994. Could my engine be that old too? Hmmm...
