I think PT doesn't put a larger engine on the PT425 because they want to seel you the PT1430. However, the extra $6k for the PT1430 definitely puts it in a deferant class. I could see then adding the PT430 for another $2k premium as an intermediate step (and it would probably be $1.2k of profit).

Tim, I think you hit the nail on the head. If they had two machines with the same horsepower if would confuse people and cost them profit. I would actually be willing to pay for the 1430 as my next machine, but I also have about $8000 in attachments, and to replace them with 1430 attachments would cost even more. The 425 to 1430 attachment adapter is looking good. I have 2 more years to decide, so we will see how the 429 works out.

The trouble with moving up in class to gain HP, is that each class of PT seems to gain a bigger percentage in weight than HP. I have the 1430 and have dreamed of installing the 45hp. Problem being, these diesels run about 6 grand. Could go with a 1445 but than you would get a bigger, heavier tractor for the bigger engine to push around.

Yeah. PT seems to think we need less torque that we actually do. You could do what JDbeach did and get 1430 wheel motors in a 425. I guess that would help. The motor is still limited.
