Didn't you get the service bulletin from Terry about boring out the forward flow restrctor to 0.17997" for enhanced reversed power? I hear it makes all the difference.

Yes ..Terry sent me the service bulletin and I bored out the forward flow restrictor to the suggested specifications, but it resulted in modulated blockage in the anti- back flow valve attached to the swash plate connector causing sever cavitation. So I ended up boring it out to .30 over dead center. I also installed a 50K V. discharge capacitor rated at 150mfa. to the ignition. Now if the new owner encounters any further blockage it will be relieved by the capacitor. The new owner noticed a big improvement in the cross quadlateral ground pressure from the non-reversed wheels.
With the exception of the reversed steering wheel I think it was a huge improvement, with regards to the stump grinder !!!

Greetings,

Oh what a project is it. I wish there were 40 hours in a day. It is amazing how well the 29HP kawasaki wants to be a part of the project. In lieu of waxing poetic about the wonders of the 429 project i will simply post a bunch of pictures in a somewhat chronological order. They should be self explanitory.

Good news is i designed everything in Solidworks and an have complete top level assembly drawings for each and every component except the purchased items.

Images soon to follow i am transferring the .jpg's from my office machine to my laptop right now and will post some images asap.

All i have left to do now is fill with oil, antifreeze, wire and connect longer hoses to the hyd radiator.

The alternator is 100 amp!

I see a nice roll over cage with some very bright lights (and reverse lights) in the very near future.

Steve

I have hundreds of images from beginning to end. I could make a torrent file and you could download using Bit Torrent which is a freen download from BitTorrent This is an great way to share large amounts of data. If anyone is interested i will put it out there- otherwise i will post what i can here without using too much space on the server. The images are for the most part very high quality and you can zoom in very close for the find details. I would hate to have to post them as a very resolution but will do so anyway just to get them out there.

Steve

I would be interested in both pictures. Put up the low resolution pictures first. While I find this project very interesting, I am concerned of the damage that the 29 HP engine with 2500 PSI will do to the 1500 PSI wheel motors under certain load conditions (rear wheels spinning, front wheels getting full pressure and power. I would like to see you use this for a few months before I tried it.

I must be missing part of the plan. Is scarg replacing the pumps on his tractor?

If he is using the same pumps, which are positive displacement pumps protected by relief valves, and the overall hydraulic pressure will never change regardless of the engine size.

100 amps? Maybe you should upsize to a 150 amp alternator, build in a decent size inverter... then your PT will be a mobile generator and will be able to power hand drills, etc.

I wondered the same thing.

Technically, the Bit Torrent may be out of the league of some peoples technological understanding. With Port Forwarding and such... Then again, everyone owns a PT so they know how to dig into things....

3RL Posts these amazing stories of things he has built. Basically 4 or 5 pictures per message, and sometimes 10 or 20 messages of how he built it...

Really looking forward to seeing the mod and an idea of how it budgeted out.

My 422 is limited by the engine, which stalls before the relief valves open. I think there will be more load on the wheels motors. I was also told by my PT instuctor that the relief valves on the wheel is set very high and will not normally open. Time will tell and I wish Steve the best of luck with this.

The Kawasaki is limited to 3,600 RPM. What is the Robin's limit set to? If the Kawasaki is faster at high idle than the Robin, then the system pressure may be higher, assuming the relief setting is also high.
