PT expectations?

A 2:1 slope is a 26 degree angle. The PT425 with a Kohler will only do a 25 degree angle due to the oiling system in the engine. Don't know the limitations of a PT4255 with a Robin engine. He's got an 1850, which is rated considerably higher.

Yes , I know this and most do not know what degree a slope is and sure don't have the machine to run on it let a lone run the implment on it. The Ventrac 4500 P is rated 30 degrees up down or side ways .... and I had it near a 1 to 1 and never had a loss of oil pressure but it was intermittent or short times and a pucker job... lol... jim

Is there an average (hour or years) as to the life of the primary pump(s) wheel drives or attachment motors? Are they rebuildable? Average costs? I love the simplicity of these machines but I cringe at the possible costs for wear and tear items. I知 not getting one for commercial uses and I would prefer a used unit even though I might be buying someone else痴 money pit.
Thanks for all the information

I don't think an average can be put on it, as there are so many different operating conditions when you try and compare between users.

Add into that equation maintenance/care. Here is a challenge for you, what is wrong with this picture (besides the color) of this PT that was for sale at some point and looks freshly washed?

Here is a hint, hydraulic reservoir breather caps are not optional.

How long was it that way and what would it do to the life of the hydraulic system?

Yikes. I wouldn’t buy it. Not worth the risk.

I remain impressed with what users do with their machines.

All the best,

Peter

Any chance there is a PT member with a 425 or smaller machine in the Western New York are? I would love to see one and see if my wife could/would handle it. Anything larger than the 425 would probably scare her off. Thanks!

These tractors do not feel anything like a traditional tractor. My 65 HP feels much smaller than the 25 and 45 HP CUTs I have owned in the past.

When I got my 1845 the wife said she was not running it to mow that it was too big compared to our 422. But after she used it she wanted nothing to do with using the 422 to mow, she loves the 1845 now but she very seldom gets to use it as my grandson loves it to mow with and he comes around all the time with grass needs mowed or some other use for it.
