By the looks of the pics,it barely survived, but I'd say the rest made a large paper weight. After the insurance settled with us CAT put a new "Reman" engine and all new wiring harness' in mine, However I'm gun shy now. Like setting on a vintage land mine, you never know when she's gonna go off underneath ya.Lol:confused2:

i know this post is gettin some age on it...just wanted to say something about the T870. We ran some T300's and T320's for a couple years. Owner/Operator kinda business. We had good luck out of these machines and just recently traded the T300 for the new T870. First time on the 870, i was shocked that i was missing out on this power with our other machines. I demo'd the new Fecon100 but just decided that for what we do, the visibility out of the new T870 is wayyy better. i know the fecon would have held up a lot better(being a purpose built mulcher)but to be honest with you, the 870 is seriously right on the Fecons butt...if you spend very many hours in one of these machines, you'll really appreciate the new additions to the T870's cab.

BECTON, I am still running my Cat 287C and still undecided on what I would trade for however I do like the T870's overall and would probably lean in that direction

what kind of price difference is there between these 2 units? we just priced out 2 t870's. $68,136.00 each, just the unit.

we are just getting into the mulching biz. going with the smaller units to be more versatile. snow removal, mulching, landscaping, etc.

we are going to be using Denis heads. the new gen 3 180. have some seat time on the t870 and we are very impressed. none on the pt100g. to be honest, never even heard of terex...lol.

Does the fact that the T870 is 7 feet wide and you are only cutting 5 feet wide give you problems? You have 1 foot on either side that's getting run over by the tracks...

I just don't see that working to good in thick brush/saplings....I might be wrong.

i run the t870 every day just mulch where you are going to drive so you doint run over trees with the tracks.

The Terex (asv) is the best skid steer platform on the market I have had 7 machines now and no one else builds anything I would considering buying over the Terex. Asv invented the rubber track system and the new one rides like a Cadillac. Looking forward to seeing what the tier 4 machine is going to be

Ok thanks for everyone's input I have found it more than usefully many times. I recently had a small smoldering fire in
a t870, damage so far is minor melted the top of the fuel tank (I must be living right) I was able to address the issue before
any flames were burning. My question is " what would the advantage of a fire suppression system be" I plan on looking into the
cost of having one installed today and was hoping to get any feedback on weather this solution is plausible. I do not expect a suppression
system to save the machine just minimize the damage and hopefully get the machine back in operation faster after an event. Anyone using one or ever price one?
