I was looking through the PDF sheet on the 30HP Deutz (L2011) when I noticed this line: "Heating system:................ Optional connection for cab heating".

Does anyone know anything about this?

Could this maybe be a way to get extra engine cooling and/or cab heating?

My 03 PT1430 has the 1011f engine. Do the new PT's use the 2011?

The new PTs use Deutz 2011 from at least '09.

I believe that the in cab heat takes engine oil and circulates it out. I have always been hesitant to take engine oil out of the engine block out of a fear that the hose or seal would leak/break, but your comfort level may be higher.

Studying the Deutz engine diagrams, it has never been clear to me how much of a pressure differential was available to drive this option. There is also an oil preheater option that can also be hooked up for cold weather operation, in addition to the highly recommended glow plugs.

All the best,

Peter

Peter,
I was considering using hydraulic hose and fittings, not much chance of leaking at the pressures involved. Maybe a supplimental pump would be needed.

Where did you hear about an oil pre-heater?

Thanks,

Ron

I started from the oil heater as a cryptic note on a figure in the Deutz owner's manual about the function of four recessed hex screws (~1/2" set screw like item) on the left side of the engine. I was looking for a way to access the return oil for cooling, but it didn't seem like this was the way to do it when I spoke with the someone at Deutz. They encouraged me to consider the "Ag" oil cooler, but never got me a price- they couldn't locate a single one in the US. (Supposedly it is larger, with bigger spacing between the oil fins, giving more capacity and resistance to dust.)

Given your comment about the oil heater for the cab, I am inclined to think that it is the same pressure port, with three returns, because when I look at the diagram again, it seems to me that only one port has the potential for being pressurized, while the other three look like return lines.

The fluid flow is best seen on 2.3.1 (lube oil circuit), while the ports are labelled best on 2.2.1 #17 in the owners manual.

All the best,

Peter

Peter,

Thanks for the info. I found a pdf of the Deutz manual here:
http://www.tibban.com/Parts_and_Manuals/Manuals/Engines/2011/BF4L2011-Repair/2011_Operation.PDF

The Deutz ag cooler is probably an expensive item. But a third party cooler should be OK, maybe even a used automotive cooler from a junk yard.

There is also the option of an adapter to intercept the flow to the filter. But if Deutz has already made provision for it, why not go that way.

I can also see it as an auxilliary cooler for summer use: maybe relocate the cooler for summer, maybe two coolers and some valves, maybe two coolers and some hyd. couplers.

Regards,

Ron
