Likely a bad (leaky)diode in the diode trio in the alternator. I would fix it ,

The good news is that it is relatively easy to replace, and it is the just rewards for your diligence in running down your power leak. Good job.

Thanks for the help guys. i agree it would be a diode now that i have researched much more. Going to use the solenoid i put in for now until i find a shop that will do it. Or is this something someone had done before and knows it isn't hard? I'm a machinist so i have the capacity just not the experience.
