Likely a bad (leaky)diode in the diode trio in the alternator. I would fix it ,

Thanks for the help guys. i agree it would be a diode now that i have researched much more. Going to use the solenoid i put in for now until i find a shop that will do it. Or is this something someone had done before and knows it isn't hard? I'm a machinist so i have the capacity just not the experience.
