Phils........No my doesn't have a heat deflector, just 1 1/4 square exhaust pipe pointing down.

Toolz.......I agree a good header system would rock.

I got around the exhaust direction by welding another short piece of 1 1/4 box steel to the exhaust pipe exiting out to the rear of the machine.

Tricker,
Nice mod, I will be doing the same soon. Did you weld the piece directly onto the stock exhaust can?

Also, how's that thermo coupler problem? Is the tractor back in action?

Too bad they don't fit a really quiet Honda in there... all you'd hear then is the purrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr and the PT whine.

I have a Hustler FasTrac with a 20hp Honda engine. It is a sweet runner, but cost $500 more than the same FasTrac with a 20hp Kohler!! How many PT buyers would 'whine' about paying over $500 more for a little extra quiet?? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Tim, I welded directly to the factory exhaust at a 90 degree angle and yes, the thermo coupler fixed the problem. PT is running like a top /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
