PTO adjustment knob

I have a 2006 Montana tractor. It has an adjustment knob for the PTO below the seat. I keep breaking the sheer bolt on my 3 point chipper shaft when the PTO engages. The PTO engages rather abruptly and I can't find any info on how the adjustment knob works. Does anyone know if you turn it counter clock wise or clock wise to ease PTO shaft engagement and is that what the adjustment knob is for.

I believe the knob your talking about is for the speed in which your three point hitch drops..

You have two levers for the PTO, if you engage the wrong one first, it will abruptly engage the PTO.
