PTO Blower making my life miserable!

Nice looking blower! I don’t recall if your previous blower had hydraulic chute controls, but man are they nice to have! I added hydraulics to my blower a few years ago.
Enjoy!

Looks good! Thanks for getting back to us on the final outcome.

My first stop was to a local Pronovost/Normand dealer and I was literally turned away because they were only willing to sell me a blower if it was attached to a tractor, regardless of the fact that they had inventory sitting around. I couldn't believe it. Apparently they have a hard time selling tractors in the winter if it doesn't come with a blower, so I guess business must be good if they can tell a customer with cash-in-hand to go take a hike.

Who was the dealer?

Try Fort Equipment in Amherst next time, they service Moncton area and they are excellent to deal with. They also stock many brands of snow blowers new and used and don't require you to buy a tractor to buy a blower.

I have never successfully bought anything from Green Diamond. I got a quote on a brand new utility tractor and they were more interested in telling me no matter what Green Diamond I went to in the Maritimes the price would be the same since they were giving me such a great deal, even though it was more that the CDN price on Deere's builder site...

Patterson's in Moncton. Sales guy was nice enough, but he was just a puppet for someone in Miramichi that said no.

Hadn't even thought of them, consider them an RV place. Doesn't surprise me though, I would say they have a different target market, primarily the residential snow removal market. They used to have the biggest selection of used 2wd plywood cabbed tractors with blowers in the maritimes. I would wager they don't sell many tractors without a blower.

I'll try to keep it brief, but I have a few questions that I need answers to! Thanks.

My 2009 Cub Cadet sc2400 came to me used with a 60" "Agro Trend" PTO blower. I always set the 3PH to the float position, but IMMEDIATELY upon contact with snow it just rides right up on top of the snow, and within a few feet I am driving on top of 3,4 or 5 inches of (now-compacted) snow.

I've played with the 3PH angle adjustments to no avail.

My theory is that the skids on the back of the blower are preventing the 3PH angle adjustment from actually putting the blower into a position where it will cut. The feet are too big and affect the angle of the blower too much.
Note: in the photos I intentionally have the blower slightly off the ground.

So on to my questions in no particular order:

1. Is that blower just too big, too much for my tractor?

2. Should I cut off those sleds/feet on the back of the blower, and would that fix my problem?

3. Should I cut my losses and move to a completely different setup? (ie. front mount blower, or different rear blower)

Thanks!

"You say that you set the 3PH to the 'float position'. That could be your problem as the float position does exactly that--it floats the attachment on the surface instead of remaining in a fixed position. Floating is good for evening out a driveway but not used when you want to dig or lock an attachment in a FIXED POSIITON. There cannot be any other possible explanation as the blower is plenty heavy to keep surface contact.

This was discussed in detail earlier in the thread. ALL 3-point hitches float as they do not have any down pressure other than gravity. So while you can set the rock shaft lever to lower it to a certain point, any upward force will still lift the 3PH and attachment.

Man. With that level like you have it now, the weight of that blower alone should keep it on the ground. Can't understand why it rides up on you.

I have same size tractor with a Woodmaxx 60 inch blower and my complaint was opposite your-it dug in too much. the Woodmaxx has big shoes on the rear part of the blower box.....I adjusted them so they dont dig on as much but I can say for certain I never had an issue with it riding up anything. Even when I use my loader can push snowbanks higher than the hood of the tractor I can get wedged between the loader and the snowblower behind. Do you have a PTO lock or adjustment? If so maybe put tighten it just before it locks the PTO arm?

I do not have a blower on my MF CUT, but on an 85 HP utility tractor. One thing I find just as valuable as hyd. chute is having a hyd. top link. Changing the pitch of the blower can make the "bite" of the cutting edge more aggressive to help hold it down. Pitching it the other way makes it less aggressive and helps keep it from gouging.
