This weekend I broke part of my post hole digger. It appears that the "cross" that ties the yoke at the implement end of the driveline to the yoke on the driveline sheared. We have very rocky ground and I try to ease the auger down slowly, but I guess it wasn't slowly enough. Or hitting rocks previously had weakened the component.
I also notice that when I run my brush hog that it really lugs the engine when first engaged, send out a puff of black smoke.
I'm wondering if a PTO clutch attachment might help protect the tractor, and my implements. I notice that Tractor Supply has a PTO clutch that looks like it can easily attached between the tractor PTO and implements. Is this a reasonable solution? Does anyone use an add-on clutch?
