PTO Generator experience with GC2410

I saw this little baby at rural king recently. They were asking $1099 I think for it. It's a 15kw. Said it required about 25 PTO/HP I think. I figured the GC would probably handle it fine. It on my wish list. I too figured utilizing my tractor engine would be far more efficient than yet another engine to keep running. I have a 5kw stand alone unit that has barely been used. It won't maintain rpm for nothing. I will only use it to run the block heater on my bigger stuff since I park them well away from line power.

That's the one that I bought this past spring. It figures that ever since, we haven't lost power long enough to use it!

What rpm were you running the tractor at?

I have the opportunity to pick up a used PTO-driven 50/30KW Genny for a pretty decent approx $2K, but given my Kubota B2320's rated PTO-P of 17 and the recommended 70-100 PTO-HP rating, I wasn't sure if I'd even be able to spin it enough for our meager household backup power needs.

Can anyone comment on the likelihood that I'll get a sufficient useable current increase to make the 2K$ upgrade worth trying?

My 6/5KW gas-genny does OK, but takes a lot of planning to avoid overloading with frig, well pump and even a modest lighting scheme. Plus the B&S gas motor on it fouls easily even with Stabil in the gas.

Thanks for any help you guys can give [not to mention all the useful info I've already gleaned in the past years].

I'm no expert but have learned alot from the more experienced generator owners here.

In general it's actually better to have a genny rated a little higher than your tractor's capacity, it has to do with the extra weight of the larger generator's spinning mass, like the flywheel effect, an object in motion tends to stay in motion, something like that.

But at some point you will loose the benefit since you will be using extra hp just to turn the extra weight, not sure where that line is but that is a pretty big generator for a relatively small tractor. I think you will be able to make AC power but not sure if you will get the 8.5 KW your tractor is capable of.

What ever amount you are able to make it will likely be very stable, little fluctuation due to the heavy spinning "flywheel"

I have a 10 kw pto genny, I learned I should of gotten a 12 or 15 kw as my tractor could handle at least the 12. 32 engine hp I think the pto hp is ~24-25.

Hey I had a question about the generators. What is the multiplier rate on them where the pto connects. The name or model of the box between the generator head and pto shaft. Thanks
