Anyone know where to get these.. I called all my local tractor dealers, and none had any ideas.

I had a catalog a few weeks ago with some in there.. but can't find it.

www.northerntool.com has them and John Deere also sells them. If you do a search in Yahoo or the like it will turn up quite a few listings. There are a quite a few places that have free shipping also. I believe one of the places that had good prices is www.generatorjoes.com My father has the 13,000 watt PTO generator from Northern Tool and can run his shop off it when the power is out. He was using my 1962 Ford 4000 and it would even start and run his 7.5 hp Campbell Hausfeld compressor.

You may want to check out Item # 3833625736 on ebay. It sounds as though he has two to sell. 25kw pto generator. If you want to look it up other than by the item #, go to agriculture, then attachments.

I bought a PTO gen from

Used it twice and so far no problems.
It has Voltage and freq. meters which are absolutely needed to set tractor RPM properly.

I'm in an agricultural area (dairy) and ended up buying my PTO generator from a local company.

While I was shopping (1999) I talked to a nearby Grainger store since they had a PTO generator listed in their catalog. Even though the catalog price wasn't particularly attractive, the fact that I worked for Bell Atlantic at the time made me eligible for a substantial discount which made them quite competitive. As I recall, they carried the Dayton product line.

As farming operations grow, backup power requirements grow with them, creating a supply of used units. If you have a local farm paper, you might want to check the classifieds. I see PTO generators almost every week in Lancaster Farming, along with display ads for new units.

Not really a source for PTO generators, but interesting reading regarding use of PTO gens and electric motor and electronics failures associated with their use. I've only read the cover page, but just that has some interesting info. Going to go and finish reading the article.

I have one that's a Winpower I think its made by Win Co. If I recall they are in MN or perhaps the Dakotas.
Its a 10KW unit & can run my house. I can have the pump running & the boiler can start and I can have lights on all while the freezer is running. The bottom line is if I need to we can take a warm shower -- yippie.
I power it with a Ford 1710 with no problems.
The best part about owning it is that since I got it a few years ago we have not had a power outage that lasted long enough to use it.

interesting phenomenon, thatat same thing happened to me, after i got my generator we have not had but a few flickers, it seems that i have prevented power outages for the whole neighborhood. also.

It's less fun for mother nature to kill your power when all you have to do is pull a cord to put it back on...

Kinda like washing your car and then it rains.. vs not washing your car.
