I have a Long 2460 tractor and the PTO grinds when I try to engage it in either syncro or independent. I do have the PTO clutch rod lifted when trying to engage it. I have adjusted it until it hits the clutch lever on the side of the tranny. The PTO clutch lever is bent slightly down. I am not sure if it should be bent or not.
To engage the PTO, I have to turn off the tractor, put it in independent mode, start the tractor. I did notice that when I stop the engine and let off the clutch pedal, the brush hog shaft stops. Would the PTO clutch be locked up or rusted and not disengaging? Any way to try to check if it is rusted or anything without disassembling the tranny? Any way to possibly free it up?
