PTO noise

Should the PTO make a ratcheting noise? Bought a used 186D. When the clutch pedal is pressed to disengage the PTO we hear a ratcheting noise until it stops spinning.

Yes, that's the built-in overrunning clutch.

There are two clutch cogs that push againts each other in the rear end on the pto shaft. Thats what makes the click sound.
