Those 2 testports is to test the sisteem and the other one is to test the sisteme AND the clutch inside. Any differance will tell you where the problem can be.

No, I never tried to turn it with the it running, but it doesn't turn on its own . I've got to fix the starter switch as right now I'm having to jump the solenoid to the starter with the screwdriver and can't see if the PTO is moving at all even when it first starts.

I see. I'm not sure if my messages are crossing yours or not, but I want to clarify I never ever turn the PTO either direction with it on. I figured that if I can turn it with it off, that means for one reason or another the clutch is totally slipping. isn't it right that that means there is no hideout hydraulic pressure going to that clutch or that the clutch plates are just worn out. so if the pressure test yield inadequate pressure then the first step would be to correct the problem with the pump. and the second point once the pump is fixed if that's the problem would be to make sure the PTO clutch is good. Is my reasoning correct on that? Then if that's correct I wonder what drives the clutch in the first place and could whatever gear or spline that is be damaged

I had a problem just like that.
Timing...al about timing the pack with the rear shaft. Fitting the 2 together is not enough. U will have to remove the 2 and check outside how it fits together to line-up the oilport to the pack that the hole for the rollpin is perfectly round. There is 2 sizes....5/16 or a 3/8 pin. Messure the hole and make a guidepin that can be temerory installed to help you keep it inplace wile you install the correct pin. Its a 2 man job. One to insert the shaft from the back and one to insert the pack. One spline out and it will not line up and that rollpin hole will be oval and the pin wil not fitt !

In the pictures above, the pump fittings look a bit different. I don't have the inter tubing fitting that your picture shows. Do you know what type of adaptor / hose I need to make my pressure gauge fit into the pump once I remove the attached solid lines? Is the top on the flow to the pto clutch and the bottom one is the return from the pto clutch?

Since I don't have a flowmeter, is there an order to doing this test. Isn't one of the two connnections outflow and the other inflow? Do, I test from both ports the same way just leaving one plugged into the circuit flow, while testing the other?

So, the thin line going down behind the two thick ones is the pto line. Since it has a cap on the end of it, how does it feed the pto. I was wondering about that. I have the IT-203 Shop manual, but it shows the two large ones and what appears to be the brake line, but I can't see the pto line in a similar. The manual also says the two "thick" lines shown in my earlier photos as hitch return (top one) and hitch pressure outlet (bottom one). I would think that checking the return would show limited pressure, but the pressure outlet would show substantial pressure. I'm trying to understand how it all works, but am confused how pressure can be tested without a flow meter.

Is the MCV, another name for a hydraulic manifold? I ask this because of a youtube video I watched, explaining how tractor hydraulics work. If the mcv isn't a manifold, where the heck is it on my ih 454, or does it not use one. Trying to understand the flows and pressures.
