pto pain

Would any of you out there be able to tell me why my pto will ingage but will not disingage. I called My dealer about it the other day. Well he must have showed up why i was at work.Went out to the barn this mourning and the lever was back to the disingaged position but when i ingaged it ,it got stuck again, I have a Tc29. Any help would be great

My TC29 has @ 60 hours on it and the pto has been hard to disengage. First I allow the pto to come to a complete stop. Then go from forward to reverse while feathering the clutch (my tractor is a gear unit with the live pto). Usually if I jerk hard on the lever while doing this pto will disengage. And it still grinds part of the time. I will keep an eye on this thread to see if someone else has simular problems, or a better answer.

You said your tractor is a TC29, not a TC29D, so this may not apply. ( I haven't seen a non-deluxe tractor lately)Check to see if the flat stock the lever is made of is twisted and is catching on the plastic shroud that the lever comes up through. If it is, use a cresent wrench to twist it back straight.

Interesting, /w3tcompact/icons/hmm.gif I have a TC30 hydro with about 20 hours on it and the pto lever is very stiff and difficult to engage. It's pretty easy to disengage. The way mine is set up the rear pto lever and the mid pto lever are less than a fingers width apart. It's really difficult to wedge my fingers in there to move the rear pto lever. It never grinds but it sure takes some muscle to engage it.
