A guy at work was telling me he was going to buy a powerwasher, curious if they make PTO powerwashers. If they dont it would make for an interesting project.

That would be one heck of a power washer! Most of the power washers I've seen don't use anywhere near the Hp available from your average compact tractor.

i love to use my tractor, but why would you want to fire it up just to use a power washer? for about $400 you can get a very nice gas power washer.

It's a new "demolition model" pressure washer. Instead of just washing your deck with it, you can actually strip off the old decking entirely... saves time when you want to replace the decking. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

this is so you can clean the tractor up before you get home, so you don't have to explain what happened /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif. Better tow a water trailer at the same time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Isn't that the equivilent of the 1 1/2" Fire hose on a fire truck? They can make short work of an back porch. (Don't ask how I know please.) /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Because internal combustion engines do not like to sit for long periods. It takes work to maintain a fleet of tools, each with its own internal combustion engine. My goal is to have (not including the cars) just one engine to maintain: the tractor. Some things that can be run from the PTO rather than from their own engines are: generator, chipper/shredder, water pump, pressure washer, pneumatic pump with tank and tools, rototiller, lawn mower, rough cutter, siclebars, even electric chainsaws and line trimmers coupled to the generator. Since the tractor runs frequently, it's never hard to start. When some of these other things sit for a long time between uses, they can be a pain to get started. There's also the issue of stale fuel to drain, etc. I just find it cheaper, faster, and easier to hook these things up to the PTO and go.

I'm waiting until the gas powered one which I now have wears out. When it does, I hope to get a PTO powered model.

Sorry, no.

frank f15, PHD/auger, and concrete mixer are 2 more items that can be put on PTO rather than running on their own gas engines.

I have only found 1 of these to be sold in the US, I think it was EasyKleen. I don't remember the exact quote, just that it was out of my price range. I think $1600 to $1700. I have the same plan, meaning I want a singe Engine to maintain, and have a low end Pressure washer that suits my current needs. As part of beginning this project I have already acquired a New Pressure Washer Pump manufactured by Giant. It puts out 3500 PSI at 4GPM, the important issue from my perspective it that the shaft rotation speed to achieve that PSI/GPM is 1340RPM. I also have a new Right angle Gear Box with a 1 to 2.5 ratio (540 X 2.5 = 1350). It was to be used on a mower deck, but I have concern that it is not built to be driven Via a PTO and when I put a 17HP pto shaft to it the gears may not hold up to the strain. By the way the Pump shaft can be rotated to either side of the pump, so I think I can easily match it to the rotation of what ever PTO attachment I end up using. I do have a few LoveJoy couplers to mate the pump to the gearbox in a flexible sort of way. No experience with welding here so for the moment this project is tabled till at least winter, But I would like to hear what others are thinking.
