PTO Pump

I'm looking for a PTO or hydraulically-driven water pump with good suction for cleaning a small farm pond. I've been told that a diaphragm type "trash pump" would work for sucking up the algae and dead leaves, but I've never used a diaphragm pump and don't know anything about the brands,features or anything to look for.

Has anyone done this? Any hints? I'm hoping it will be possible to move the suction end around by by strapping it to the backhoe bucket.
