PTO QUESTION

I have the JD 5085 with a 8FT pull behind JD bush hog. Question I have is this... I have an Econo Mode or can switch out of Econo mode. Either way it pushes to 540 in either mode. But I notice that in the Econo Mode I don't get as good as a cut. Why is this? Considering either way it's pushing 540 on the PTO?

Is your ground speed the same in both modes? Suspect you are traveling little faster in Econo Mode.

The only thing I can think of is the pto rpm is dropping off in Econo Mode in heavier cutting requirements. While Econo Mode may deliver 540 rpm it may not have the power of "normal' mode.

A quick call to your JD dealer may provide the answer.
