No, it is not a joke. I remember seeing the story [or a similar one] on a tv news program.
The kid did have his arms ripped off by a pto shaft. The arms were pulled out and the skin shrunk and reduced the bleading to a trickle. That is what saved his life.
He got to the house and no one was home. He was able to dial the phone by using a pencil held in his mouth...
This is REALLY a true story. Some kid...eh?
Amazes me when I think I get light headed when blood is drawn for a routine test!
