I have a Bush Hog SQ 160 that I purchased, used, a few years ago. The area that I intended to use it in (or on) proved to be too wet for my son's Kubota L 3800. I got stuck a couple times and decided to go with a DR walk behind cutter. So the Bush Hog has been sitting a couple years. I have an opportunity to sell it now, so I went to hook it up to make sure it still operates well. And that's where I ran into a problem. It seems after sitting for a couple years, the 2 parts of the PTO Shaft, where one slides inside the other, have apparently corroded and locked together to a point where I can't separate them. I have sprayed a "creeping" compound at that joint for several days in a row, and I have tried driving the outer part off with a brass drift. It doesn't want to budge. I don't have much experience with PTO shafts, so I don't know if this is common? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Can you disconnect PTO shaft at the Bush Hog end?
....then try the wish-bone method. Chain one end to a tree (one of them-there Rutvegas maples I presume), the other to the L3800, then make a wish....and pull.

Don't pull on it hard with it still attached to Bush Hog or you may wreck gear box's input bearing.

Might take a little heat in combination with penetrating oil or diesel fuel to help it release. Propane torch or better yet map gas...just heat one side of the union so it expands faster. Then a good jerk works better than a come a long. Mine did that years ago and now every time I park it for the season it gets lubed up and wrapped in saran wrap.
