PTO turns for a few seconds after being disengaged

I used something designed for the cables on motorcycles. Not sure what it's called but there were several options when I bought it. I think mine has a graphite component.

There is a rubber boot on one or both ends of the cable, you can peal it back and spray into the jacket. My can of lube has a straw on it. If the lever is in the right place it's easier to get to, I haven't done it in over a year so the the details are a little fuzzy.

There is a spring at the end of the cable that disengages the PTO, it seems a little weak for the job. When the cable is not well lubricated there is simply less spring tension available to overcome the rake on the cams. If you disconnect your tiller the PTO may not disengage at all with out the extra load to mix it up a little.

Lube the lever and shaft at the gear case. I just "fixed" a sticking pto by doing just that. Also I believe that Kubota is going away from that style of pto switch. On the new 3300 and 3800's they have a dial pto switch.

Possibly but I also think the dial style PTO switch is for safety. At lest on the GL40-3s if you just tap the knob it will reset itself and shut off the PTO. Kind of like a emergency "EMO" switch on a saw.

I had an L2800 and tiller that did the same thing. When I called the dealer I was told that it was normal and honestly forgot why he said it was. The dealer owner I spoke with at the time had been in business for over 50 years. Maybe he was blowing smoke but my impression he knew what he was talking about. Would definitely like to know what Kubota has to say about this.

I have a similar situation with the MMM. After I engage the PTO lever, it's usually between 3 and 4 seconds before the the power engages.

I wonder if that BX2200 has a "soft start". Do all BX2200's (or Kubotas in general) share this 3-4 second delay?

The delay in starting is normal.

I was misunderstood. My PTO keeps turning due to the momentum of the mower blades. NOT because the lever is stuck or whatever else y'all are suggesting. I would NOT want my blades to stop turning immediately as soon as I disengage the PTO because I can imagine it would be very stressful on the clutch.

Oops, my bad, too. Got into scan mode instead of actually reading threads...

When I first noticed that my PTO was not disengaging was during brush hoggin' - your "winding" down is normal. The OP was talking about letting off the clutch and the PTO started again... kubota will have a problem on their hands when someone loses an arm or a leg (or a life) over this....

To the OP, it will get worst and be stuck on more and more... if you do not lube it.
