1957 International 350 Utility
We are new to this website and need some help, advice, guidance. We are looking at a 1957 International 350 Utility tractor. In the process of driving and looking over the tractor my husband happened to notice that while sitting at a stop and disengaging the PTO it whines. When we asked the owner about it he stated that it had been doing it for 10 years. Is this normal or could something be wrong with the PTO?
We are looking to buy another tractor because the PTO went out in our Allis Chalmers WD45 and need a new one to bush hog with.
Anybody with any ideas please respond. Anxious in Va.

the pto on the 350 utility is almost bullet proof. I have worked on many of them. First the PTO is a full independant PTO and has its own lubricating system. There is a plug on the side that needs to be full of hytran hydraluic fluid. If it is low or out of fluid i suspect the bearings are shot causing the whining. The PTO is rebuildable with all standard bearings that can be bough at any bearing supply store. If you do decisde to buy this tractor I would leave the PTO inguaged when not using it. this will save the clutch pack form wearing out. The WD 45 PTO is also a good PTO> It may just need to be adjusted because the clutch for it is adjustable.
