I looked at the Salsco and thought it was a very well built chipper. Two problems - no dealers in our area, and it was about double the cost of the Wallenstein.
If you can get a good price on it, I would think you would find it to be a quality machine.

Ditto on the Wally BX-42. I originally focused on the Salsco 4" 624 and 6" 627, but the sales rep forgot about the $500 off he mentioned and was sticking to $3700 and change for the 624. Got the BX-42 for $2400.
More importantly the BX-xx can take wider branch spreads and that speeds things up.

Rental gets expensive, I broke even on the purchase after 12 days of use. Even buying and selling in 2-3 years costs less than renting. Plus chipping can wear you out in less than a day and you don't want to chip when tired just because the rental is due back.
