choker chain, or a slip clevis on a chain most likely will grab, and if you find one that will not grip/grab put a big nail on the back side so the chain will stop and grab,

I would make a frame on the three point, if the chain is fastened correctly on post when 3 point is lowered the chain should drop and re grab on lifting, until it clear the hole

If one has the time, a large A frame out of some thing Stout one most likely could pull them with a truck lean the A up next tot he post run chain on post up over the A and to the truck, pull a foot or to and let the chain drop and repeat until clear of hole,

bthomas67wagon the jack I show in the pic's has a 7000 pound lift capacity I think that should be enough.

I am sure this job is not too difficult. I have pulled posts like this before. Even with my kubota. if a straight lift dont get it, it dont take too much of a wiggle to loosen it up and they come right out.

If the deal he has with the farmers son falls through, and he lets me do it, and if its okay with him, I'll take some pictures and let everyone know how it goes.

My armchair solution would be to get a handful of 3/8 lag bolts and drive one bolt radially into the side of each post with a cordless drill. Leave enough sticking out to catch with the lip of the bucket and pull straight up. One man job without getting on and off the tractor until you run out of lag bolts. Then reuse the bolts. Put them near the top of the post where they won't weaken it if you reuse the posts.

Fallback plan #1: nudge the post sideways gently with your loader to loosen the stubborn ones before pulling again.

Fallback plan #2: pour a bucket of water down the elongated hole from plan #1.

Note: a perfect suction (worst case scenario) on a 6 inch diameter would only be About 400 lbs to overcome. And steady pressure would relieve that suction in a short time.

this is a case where being prepared pays off

I'd use FEL first, then 3PH..more lifting force...combine with tractor jack if needed...if more lift needed, good reason to buy 20 ton hydraulic jack from HFT.

Plan on assisting with the operation...not only are two people needed, bit time is reduced and more importantly you will treat the posts like you want to be able to REUSE them! Brea, king them off is easy...pulling more time consuming.

Get a number of 3 to 6 ft chains....maybe 4.....you'll be glad you did.

I have used 3pt before but a technique I learned long ago was to use a tire rim on edge next to the post with a chain or choker over it and around the base of the post. As you pull the rim wants to roll and helps lever the post out of the ground. For something that deep you might need to use a tractor or big truck rim to get enough vertical travel before it starts to pull more sideways. It all depends on what you have available to you.

If they were only in 6 months I thought they might pull out well with a front end loader until I heard they were driven in. If an auger or post hole digger made the hole I thought you might have a bit of wiggle room.
I just pulled about 1000 feet of fence (steel posts) and ash 4 inch posts that had been in the ground over 30 years. They came out well in moist soil with my pallet forks and chain on a 33 HP tractor but a six inch post driven in could be a tought pull. I did on some rock them slightly with the tractor but did break two off. You could try and if no success try the methods proposed.
Also as said, keep us posted of what you used and results.

replace a fence post using a vacuum cleaner - YouTube

take the rest of the video for what it is, the title was intreging is why i watched it.

If you are going to rent a skid-steer as mentioned earlier, rent a post puller with it. I saw 1 man working with a home made one recently just down the road from me. The wire was already off the posts and in 20 minutes he had about an 1/8 of a mile done. The wood posts were 4 inches and about 30 inches deep and half of them were metal "T" posts.

I'm happy to say that I have roughly 98-100 of my 110 posts out of the ground and ready to be moved to my new place!! :)

A couple people tried unsuccessfully and I turned down or ignored dozens of other requests, but gave it one more shot with a guy who insisted that he could guarantee success and he came through. It took him 4 hours flat to pull them and only snapped 1, so I was amazed!! He said that the key is to pull from the top and not the bottom, but IDK...

Regardless, success !!!
