Pulling With The Bucket.??

I am having a lot of trouble visualizing why pulling backwards from the loader is a problem.

I do this all the time, and if I keep the loader low, the furthest the tractor can try to overturn is until the loader is resting on the ground. Now if you keep the loader high you can get in trouble, but if I keep the loader a few inches off the ground, this seems like a very safe way to pull.

I pull stumps out in reverse with my bucket all the time. The best way to do it is in 2wd. I use a 20ft log chain and put all the slack in the chain and pull right up close to the stump, then put it in high gear so you get as much speed as possible, rev it up and dump the clutch, go as fast in reverse as you can. The momentum alone will yank anything out. leave the bucket low to the ground and you will be fine

I'm mighty glad Knightrider isn't using MY equipment, with a chain no less!!
Sure I often pull with the bucket, have had the rears in the air once or twice (or more) but I always do it in a controlled manner, (easy with HST). When I have to jerk something its hooked to somewhere solid in the rear, on a HEAVY nylon sling or 1" nylon rope.
I often have the front tires bouncing in the air when pulling from the rear, using the HST to give just that little bit more.
If that fails, then I back up and get a run at it, using the stretch in the nylon to multiply my pulling force as it gradually converts my kinetic energy to GRUNT pull. (not the instant equipment shearing snap that you get with a chain before it breaks)
I have also hooked one corner of the bucket under something solid in order to lift a leaking rear off the ground so it could be removed for a field repair.

I know he was. Why use a tractor when you have K.I.T.T. 2000 and rocket boost.

It's not, as long as one uses a modicum of caution and common sense. Rear ballast would be advisable.
Like Curly, I've never had a rear wheel off the ground when pulling in reverse.
I did have a rear wheel off the ground when moving an old boiler (something like that), but that was due to a slope, not enough tire pressure up front and no rear ballast (but I was young and stupid then...now I'm older).

Yeah, I think Knightrider is yanking everybody's chain! :D

Its not as bad as it sounds guys. I do this with a very heavy LOG chain. And my tractor is a 60hp 7000lb machine. Not a CUT. Whenever I can I use the drawbar instead. Its probably not good for it but its a large tractor. Its actually too big for me and If I could trade it for a smaller 20-26hp CUT believe me I would. But the advantage of having a large farm tractor like mine is I can get away with doing stuff like this without hurting it. And this is my first real tractor.(My Oliver doesnt count lol) Ive only had it a few monthes so dont really know the do's and dont's yet. I guess Im just so excited to have it that I get a little carried away. Sometimes I drive it down to the mailbox just to drive it. I know that sounds silly but its the coolest toy Ive ever owned. Never had a FEL before either. But anyways, I thought it was made to do stuff like that. Maybe I was wrong.
