Tips on loading dead tractor

/ Tips on loading dead tractor #31
The easiest and quickest way is to run a chain or winch cable under the bucket and pull it on the trailer or truck. The loader will rise to the ocassion. Or load the tractor backwards and the loader will float as it is loaded. Working for a deaaler have done that many times.

My tractor won’t start and I may need to get it to the dealer next week.

Fortunately it’s in a gravel parking area behind my barn. I could probably get a trailer backed up pretty close to it, and will probably need to winch it onto a trailer.

My main concern is that the front bucket is on the ground. I’ve never dealt with that situation in loading vehicles.

Any good ideas on how to deal with that?
Thanks
Most tractor hydraulics will lift by pulling the "up" lever back and turning the engine over on the starter. It should lift enough to move it.

If the engine turned over this discussion wouldn't exist. Yet you raise a good point. We tried to lift the loader on my father's 4400 (gasser) with the Kubota bucket, bjt weren't able to raise it more than a few inches. As we dragged it around the field trying to start it though, I was able to bring it up to where I wanted it.

One "trick" I learned from my uncle when loading a tractor in uncertain conditions.

Let out air from the tires to increase rolling resistance. That way, if things go south, crap will happen in slow motion. Might give you time to get out of the way.

Having a portable air compressor handy helps in just the opposite way ....;-)

Careful with CaCl loaded tires!

Would a partially engaged safety switch trip a code?
An electric switch cannot be partially-engaged, it's either on or off unless it is damaged or failed.

"Sparky" lexicon is "intermittent".

Yah, Some times.....

I have it happen often. The PTO lever is off, but the switch isn't quite in the right position.

If you had read further you would see that I answered my own question.
