Just paid $2.47 yesterday in Gardnerville Nevada, near Tahoe. BTW, you can burn home heating oil in diesel tractors, we did that for many years with no ill effects, that may be a cheaper alternative.

Maybe I shudda kept my old Ford 1600, that little 2 cyl would run all day on a couple gals of diesel. Naw.....

Last fall I filled my tank for 1.19 a gallon. Three weeks ago I paid 1.6999.

$2.50 will get me two beers at the local tavern, 24 ounces total (~1/6th gallon).
$2.50 will get one gallon of diesel that will run my tractor for 30 minutes.

Soundguy hit it on the head. I guess $2 fuel is still a bargain. Nevertheless, it's still a shock to fill my 55 gallon drum. Enough of a shock to make me feel guilty if I play around on my tractor too much.

If I ever have to choose between beer and diesel, be a friend and just shoot me now.

As I stand in line at the grocery store and see "fru-fru" water in 20 oz. bottles for $1, I suddenly realize we as a society will pay whatever they charge if it is in style. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

The amount of fuel these use the cost is minimal for the work done.

What would a shrink cost ya for your problems and withdrawals?

Still cheaper than milk.

Cheaper than water by the bottle.

Still a good deal, but it does not feel good to pay the price. The rest of the world has been paying for years.

I can sympathize for the truckers and farmers, but for the amateur CUT user does the price of diesel fuel matter a hoot.. With how little we use I don't think so. How many of you actually use 100 gallons a year? 100 gallons a year with a 25 cent rise equals $25 a year. Thats less than 7 cents per day. Let me see at $1.39 a cup of coffee, it takes 20 days to equal a cup of coffee. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif Nothing I'm worrying about on my small farm. Andy

I agree with you, Andy. The 5 gallons of diesel I burn each week in my tractor is minimum compared to the 40 gallons I burn commuting back and forth to work. I'm not ready to give up on either of them yet. I do feel sorry for truckers and farmers, but those costs should be passed on to the consumer in higher costs of goods and services. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
