We have a sister plant: bindweed. Strikes terror into any gardener. I think it is even worse than bermuda grass. Fortunately, we are too cold for bermuda.
The bindweed can be minimized if you have something else that starts earlier and covers the ground. It will not kill it, but at least out competes it and holds it at bay. The worst case is bare ground.
I think a 1/3 of the rainfall you get a year would be a good/decent year for us.

By the way: that's some nice punkin!
Never had much luck with growing pumpkins. But I really enjoy eating PUMPKIN PIE.![]()
The pumpkins look great. How do you load/unload the pallet boxes on the trailer since it has the tubing sides and deck between the wheels? Are you driving on the trailer with a forklift, or do you load the boxes empty and fill them in the field? I guess you are just able to squezze two 40" boxes side by side, especially if they're bulging a little and the trailer is around 82".We hauled some more of the pumpkins to our wholesaler over the weekend. I made a trip on Saturday and another on Sunday. The bins in these pictures are 40"x48"x24" or 40"x48"x36". Some bins have 3 pumpkins in them and some have 10, depending on the size.
I have the 20' gooseneck hooked behind my Kubota M4800. It is easier to maneuver around the barn with the trailer on the tractor instead of the truck.
